Vega Grande de Guadalupe Cabernet Sauvignon (Cosecha 2008)

Making wine from exotic varieties grown on the Island of Gran Canaria, gives the wines a typically European character, which together with the spring-like exuberance that distinguishes the Canary Island micro-climate, gives the wines of Bodega Vega Grande de Guadalupe that combination of traditional and sophisticated character that makes it stand out.

Tasting note

  • Dark cherry-coloured red wine with no nuances of development.
  • A clean bouquet of high intensity, with aromas of ripe black berries, spices and the toasted notes that are characteristic of having been aged in casks.
  • It is fresh and well rounded in the mouth, with a touch of tannins, but very polished. It is agreeable on the palate, very easy to drink and with a long after-taste that brings back the toasted nuances of having been aged in French oak casks.
  • 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Hand-picked in 20 kg crates, the grape is cooled to 14ºC and then stemmed. Fermentation is done in 2,000 kg stainless steel vats, at a temperature of between 24º and 26 ºC. The mix is pumped over manually 4 times a day to gently bring out the colour and the tannins and to homogenise the fermentation temperature.
  • The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and it is aged for six months in new Allier French oak casks.
